Weekend Highlights: Fun in Pasadena

Ahh anyone else still getting over that US World Cup game yesterday? Such a fun game to watch but that last goal was so heartbreaking!

I spent the weekend in Pasadena visiting the bf who's in town on a work trip. I got back too late last night to meal prep, and even missed the Trader Joe's hours by less than 10 minutes. It was definitely worth it though! Besides spending time with the bf, I got to eat a lot of delicious food.

A few particular favorite Pasadena restaurants:

Europane - an adorable bakery with the best frittata I've ever eaten and amazing salmon eggs benedict
Urth Caffe - cool organic coffee shop that stays open late so you can enjoy their delicious desserts after dinner
Fresh Squeezed Juice Bar - yummy juices, smoothies and acai bowls
Tender Greens - casual and semi-fast food farm to fork restaurant
Bistro 45 - fancy French-style food with a focus on local, organic ingredients

In addition to all the eating, we also stayed pretty active. Since the summer solstice was on Saturday, we visited the Griffith Observatory to learn more about the sun and get our science on. Then we hiked to the top of Mount Hollywood. Because, you know, hiking up a steep hill when it's over 80 degrees out on the longest day of the year makes a lot of sense.

But really, it was a great hike despite the heat and the view at the top was worth the climb.

On Saturday I somehow managed to convince the bf to run with me. We did a little over 4 miles at an easy pace with plenty of walking and also spent some time checking out the stations on the Brookside Fitness Trail.

I loved the idea of having a running loop with different exercise stations in a public park, even though some of the equipment was pretty funny. The bf was less thrilled about the whole experience, but I think he had a good time too despite the pout.

For the week ahead, I'm switching up my workout schedule a little bit from my monthly plan since I have a friend coming to visit for the weekend. I'm definitely going to ge all my workouts in, though, especially after all of the weekend's eating.

Monday: Fitness Blender Fat Burning HIIT Cardio Workout
Tuesday: Pilates
Wednesday: Track workout
Thursday: Pilates
Friday: 4 mile run
Saturday: Rest
Sunday: Beach volleyball
