Ahh the bf is here for the weekend! And I'm leaving for the Philippines on Tuesday! So much excitement I just don't know what to do with myself!!

After I finish my work trip to the Philippines, I'm flying to Brussels to meet the bf for a week traveling by train through Belgium to Amsterdam. I won't be back until June 1! Even though I'm going to be gone almost the whole month of May and plan on thoroughly enjoying myself, I don't want to fall off the healthy living bandwagon entirely. To help me stay on track, I'm joining the DC Trifecta's Friday Five linkup with a recap of my April goals and five goals for May
April Goal Recap:
I rocked the race, finishing my longest race ever in 1:47:31, a 10:45 min mile pace! And, most importantly, I felt good enough to drink a lot of wine afterwards :)
2. Hike inspiration point
Ok the bf was supposed to come in April to do this with me, but he's coming this weekend so hopefully I'll be checking this off juuust a little late.
I tried a new spin class and did personal training with my friend's fiance.
So I didn't really convince anyone to come to a workout with me, but I did say yes to going to personal training with my friend :)
I totally ran out of time for this. Fail.
May Goals:
1. Workout 16 times during my 4 week trip
An average of 4 workouts a week is less than I normally do, but more than I'll probably want to do given how much I'm going to be flying around. So, compromise!
2. Eat mindfully and deliciously
Food is one of my favorite parts of traveling (ok it's one my favorite parts of life) and I want to enjoy lots of delicious, exotic food during my trip. But I also don't want to feel like crap. So my goal is to eat mindfully and only eat what I truly enjoy instead of stuffing my face with whatever I can find I until I feel sick. This is an ambitious goal.
3. Kick my work goals' butts
I don't usually include my work goals here, but this trip is chock full of the most important deliverables on my plate since I started this job in February. Plus it's like 2/3 of the month. So I plan to rock it.
4. Keep up with the blog while traveling
I have a couple guest posts lined up (thanks guys!) but I also want to make sure I'm checking in with brief posts a couple times a week.
5. Enjoy my vacation!
Obviously the most important goal. Even Ryan Gosling agrees.
Q: What's on your plate for May? Anyone have any travel tips for Belgium/Amsterdam?
Looks like you'll be pretty busy. Have fun on your trips. Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteYea it's going to be crazy! Thanks so much!
DeleteBelgium is AMAZING! Amsterdam is great too, but Belgium is just such a beautiful country with super nice people, and it's so easy to get around the country by train. I have tons of suggestions, if you're interested!
ReplyDeleteOh man yes Alexis I would love suggestions! We're going to Brussels, Ghent, Brugges, and Amsterdam, all by train. Thanks so much!
DeleteCongrats on the great 10-miler time! Have a safe trip with your upcoming travels, and be sure to make some posts about it!

DeleteStopping by from the SITS girls, I am impressed by your lifestyle and your dedication to incorporate regular work out into all of this! I've never been to Belgium but I am from these parts of the world (Croatia to be more specific) and I have heard stories about the beauties of Amsterdam. Have fun and have a safe trip!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by and for the encouragement! I would love to visit Croatia too, definitely next on the European travel list :)
DeleteHope you have a wonderful trip!! Sounds fantastic! Plus, love that you post and update your goals. It was honest and made me feel normal, instead of some of those blogs where you just fall short. Good post!

DeleteHello -
ReplyDeleteMy goal is to workout at least 4 times a week. Amazing that you normally do more. You reached most of your monthly goals. This is a great reminder that I need to get back into doing monthly and quarterly goals.
